
Georgia’s European integration process was discussed at a meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili and Olaf Scholz, the German Chancellor, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
“Irakli Gharibashvili highlighted the unprecedented dynamics of the political dialogue between the countries and noted that Georgia appreciated the strong political messages of Germany, ” - the Government Administration of Georgia reported.
The officials expressed their readiness to further deepen and strengthen the close and multidimensional cooperation between the countries.
Irakli Gharibashvili also informed Scholz of the implemented and current reforms on the path of the country’s European integration and noted that the implementation of the recommendations outlined by the European Commission was at the final stage.
The head of the Georgian Government added that the country was expecting a “fair and correct” political decision from the EU.
Garibashvili emphasized the importance of granting Georgia the candidate status and highlighted Germany’s support in this process.
