The Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze expressed profound sorrow over the earthquake that struck China’s Autonomous Region of Tibet earlier in the day, resulting in at least 126 fatalities.
"On behalf of the people and the Government of Georgia, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased," Kobakhidze stated. He further added, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured, and we stand in solidarity during this difficult time."
According to media reports, the 7.1-magnitude earthquake also left 188 individuals injured, caused the collapse of 3,600 buildings, and displaced thousands who remain without shelter.
