Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, joined by government officials, attended a concert by the Georgian State Chamber Choir at Rome’s Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, held in honor of the Vatican’s anniversary.
The performance included Georgian hymns, folk songs, and choral works by Georgian composers, as well as compositions by Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II. Yano Alibegashvili performed the Patriarch’s Ave Maria with the choir, alongside contributions from composers Zviad Bolkvadze and Lotbar Giorgi Donadze.
The concert was organized with support from Georgia’s Ministry of Culture and the Georgian Embassy to the Vatican. The Vatican Jubilee, celebrated in Rome every 25 years, has been observed since 1300.
