Gharibashvili said that Tbilisi International Airport has become a transit hub for evacuating coalition forces from Afghanistan, receiving more than 250 flights since the Taliban took Kabul.
He said that Georgia also ensured temporary relocation for the employees of several international organizations.
Garibashvili reiterated Georgia’s commitment for Euro-Atlantic integration and thanked Austria for its ‘firm support’ for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Kurz and Gharibashvili said that 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries and stated that ‘bilateral relations are progressing year-on-year.’
They expressed commitment to even deeper cooperation in the fields of economy, tourism, environmental protection, agriculture, education and culture and regional cooperation.
To be reminded, PM Irakli Gharibashvili arrived in New York on Monday and is scheduled to deliver his speech at the UNGA session on September 24.
He has already held several meetings on the sidelines of the UNGA international event and attended a dinner hosted by the Polish president dedicated to the Associated Trio format of Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova.
