
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, the civil funeral of the Georgian pilots and rescuers, who died near Gudauri (Georgia’s Ski resort), will be held in the Trinity Cathedral on Tuesday, August 2, from 11:00 to 14:00. After the funeral, the bodies of the pilots of the border police and rescuers of the emergency management service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will be transferred to different locations – their ancestral cemeteries - and will be buried with military honors.
A border police helicopter crashed near Gudauri on July 29. The helicopter, with the help of which the rescue operation of fallen paragliders was underway, lost control. As the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported, there were 8 people on board. All of them died. The paragliding instructor was injured, and the foreign tourist, who was with him, died.
The investigation into the violation of air transport operation rules is ongoing under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
