Sweden’s Minister for EU Affairs, Jessica Rosencrantz, expressed strong support for the European aspirations of the Georgian people, speaking ahead of the EU General Affairs Council meeting.
Rosencrantz emphasized that Georgians “belong to the European family,” but warned that the Georgian government is not demonstrating real commitment to the reforms required for EU integration.
She said Sweden has long backed Georgia’s EU ambitions, yet sees “no real ambition or interest” from the government to meet its obligations, adding that developments are “going in the wrong direction” rather than moving the process forward.
Her message to the public was direct:
“You belong in the European family, but the government needs to act on the necessary reforms.”
