
Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and a parliamentary delegation were formally welcomed at the Indian Parliament, where the Speaker also signed the Book of Honorary Guests.
During the visit, Papuashvili held a meeting with Shri Om Birla, Speaker of the Lok Sabha—the lower house of the Indian Parliament, known as the “House of the People.”
Both sides noted the positive development of Georgia–India relations and discussed cooperation in trade, the economy, tourism, culture, and education. They emphasized the increasing strategic importance of the Middle Corridor project.
Papuashvili expressed gratitude for India’s continued support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also highlighted the recent opening of the Indian Embassy in Tbilisi and stated that Georgia looks forward to welcoming the country’s first ambassador.
The delegation accompanying Papuashvili includes Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee; Shota Berekashvili, Chair of the Economic Policy Committee; Vasil Chigogidze, Head of the Friendship Group with India; and Genrieta Tsitsava, Deputy Chair of the Georgian Dream faction.
