Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili criticized EU officials Kaja Kallas and Marta Kos for not apologizing over what he called a “Spokesperson-supported coup assembly” that left 25 police officers injured during an attack on Georgia’s Presidential Palace.

In a Facebook post, Papuashvili echoed concerns over a recent EU statement on Georgia’s October 4 municipal elections, which described a “crackdown on dissent.” He urged EU representatives to stop promoting “false narratives” that, in his view, encourage radical forces and undermine democracy.
