The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, has responded to the recent decision of the French court, which found Marine Le Pen, the leader of the far-right National Rally party, guilty of embezzling EU funds.
Papuashvili emphasized that while he does not wish to interfere in France's internal matters, he also believes that France should not interfere in Georgia's affairs.
“Of course, I do not want to interfere in the internal affairs of France, but neither should France interfere in the internal affairs of Georgia,” Papuashvili stated.
The Paris court found Marine Le Pen, along with eight other MEPs, guilty of embezzlement of EU funds. As a result, Le Pen was banned from holding public office for five years, sentenced to four years in prison, and ordered to pay a fine of 100,000 euros.
