
Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, hosted Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister, Baxtiyor Saidov, during the latter’s first official visit to Georgia.
According to the Parliament's press office, both sides praised the strong and evolving cooperation between Georgia and Uzbekistan, highlighting the increasing frequency and productivity of bilateral visits.
Papuashvili recalled his official visit to Uzbekistan last year and expressed readiness to host the Speakers of the Oliy Majlis for a reciprocal visit. He also thanked Uzbekistan for its firm support of Georgia’s territorial integrity.
The meeting underscored the key role of legislative cooperation, referencing the Memorandum between the two parliaments and ongoing exchanges between parliamentary groups, committees, and administrations.
Discussions also focused on deepening transport cooperation, particularly through the Middle East Corridor to strengthen links with Central Asia. Cultural and educational exchanges were highlighted as essential for enhancing people-to-people ties.
The two sides also agreed on the importance of establishing an Uzbek Embassy in Georgia to further solidify bilateral relations.
