
Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, hosted his Azerbaijani counterpart, Sahiba Gafarova, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis.
According to the Parliament’s press office, the primary focus of the meeting was on the "historical camaraderie and multifaceted productive collaboration" between the two nations.
Papuashvili expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for its support of Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, while reaffirming his unwavering support for Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.
Both parties highlighted the frequency of high-level exchange visits. Papuashvili noted that the Georgian Parliament was hosting the Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan for her inaugural official visit, a moment of both symbolic and meaningful significance.
The parliamentary ties and collaboration between the Speakers and the sector committees were positively evaluated. The importance of the Memorandum of Cooperation in strengthening these ties was also emphasized.
The parties discussed the situation in the South Caucasus region, underscoring the importance of peace and security, and expressed their commitment to implementing strategic regional projects.
Sahiba Gafarova extended an invitation to Shalva Papuashvili to visit Azerbaijan, the statement concluded.
