Shalva Papuashvili, Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, condemned Brussels on social media, saying it has strayed from core European values, particularly respect for democracy.
Papuashvili criticized EU interference in Georgia’s 2024 elections and what he described as Brussels siding with perpetrators rather than upholding the rule of law. He highlighted cases judged by the Georgian judiciary, including those involving Saakashvili, Melia, and Gvaramia, asserting that EU officials misrepresented judicial outcomes.
“Modern Europe not only fails to distance itself from violence but, regrettably, appears to side with the perpetrators,” Papuashvili wrote, calling on Brussels to restore its relations with Georgia by respecting democracy and European values.
