Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili thanked voters for participating in the October 4 local elections, emphasizing that the results reaffirm the government's democratic mandate.
Speaking at a parliamentary bureau meeting, he congratulated the country on completing a full electoral cycle—parliamentary, presidential, and now local elections—allowing Georgia to focus on implementing the ruling team's development agenda.
Papuashvili noted that Georgian Dream received support from over 1.1 million voters, effectively matching its parliamentary election results and surpassing the party’s performance in the 2021 local elections.
He underscored that the outcome reflects broad public backing for the government’s policies and legal decisions, calling it a clear signal of democratic legitimacy:
“Power comes from the people, and through these elections, the people have once again entrusted that power to the current government.”
