The Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili addressed donors of non-governmental organizations in the country, emphasizing their responsibility for both financial contributions and fairness of the organizations they support.
"Their responsibility does not end with the transfer of money to organizations, but includes the responsibility for the fairness of this organization”, - Papuashvili said.
Papuashvili claimed “certain actions” by “opposition, their affiliated media, and associated NGOs” suggested preparations for a “reiteration of the scenario” of the 2020 parliamentary elections in Georgia and the creation of “false pretexts” for contesting election results.
He said the “experience of 2020”, including the dissemination of false election results and the subsequent joint statement by NGOs, highlighted the dangers of irresponsible behaviour in democratic processes.
