
At the 2025 World Cup in São Paulo, Brazil, Irma Khetsuriani claimed a gold medal in wheelchair sabre fencing (Category B). The Georgian para-athlete triumphed over Italian Giulia Markovska 15-5 in the semi-finals. In the final, Khetsuriani defeated Belarusian Anastasia Kostyuchkova 15-12 to become the tournament champion.
An all-Georgian final also took place in sabre fencing (Category A), where Nina Tibilashvili and Gvantsa Zadishvili faced off. Both athletes delivered exceptional performances, with Tibilashvili winning the gold medal 15-8, while Zadishvili took home the silver.
The Georgian women's wheelchair fencing team—Irma Khetsuriani, Nina Tibilashvili, and Gvantsa Zadishvili—will compete in foil fencing at the São Paulo World Cup on February 22.
