According to the press service of the National Tourism Administration, the presentation was attended by the representatives of the National Tourism Administration, the Georgian Agency for Protected Areas, the National Forest Agency, the Eco-Tourism Professional Association and the German Agency for International Cooperation.
The meeting was attended by the representatives of donor international organizations involved in environmental activities and stakeholders. Medea Janiashvili, Acting Head of the National Tourism Administration, addressed the participants of the event and introduced the projects implemented by the National Tourism Administration to the public.
The ecotourism strategy covers the years 2020-2030. According to the strategy, work is underway on a 3-year action plan. The planned activities for 2022 were discussed at the meeting.
"Ecotourism is one of the leading tourism products for the country, therefore the strategy policy document will significantly help us create an impressive tourism product with sustainable management of cultural and natural resources, and then offer it to domestic and international tourism markets, which will directly affect the growing tourist flows and an increased interest towards our country,"- said Medea Janiashvili.
The Georgian National Tourism Administration, the Georgian Agency for Protected Areas and the National Forestry Agency worked to develop a strategy for the development of ecotourism and ecotourism products. The strategy was developed with the assistance of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ); the Georgian Ecotourism Association was actively involved in the process.
