
“The Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee of the Parliament of Georgia Maia Bitadze and the First Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Nino Tandilashvili met with representatives of the USAID Economic Development Program,” - the press service of the Parliament reports.
At the meeting the parties discussed the projects implemented within the framework of bilateral cooperation and the laws (including the draft law "On Water Resources Management", which the Parliament of Georgia has already adopted in the first reading) adopted by the parliament based on the Association Agreement.
Special attention was paid to the issue related to water pollution. Based on the new draft law, a study will be conducted, as a result of which sensitive areas and red zones in terms of water pollution will be determined, thus, an appropriate action plan should be formed.
The parties talked about jointly planned programs, including the environmental awareness raising programs and conducting trainings and forums throughout Georgia in this direction.
During the meeting, the parties agreed that regional cooperation and raising awareness in the environmental direction was of the utmost importance and they would continue to work in this direction", - the press service of the Parliament stated.
