Up to 65 MPs and employees of the Georgian parliament staff donated blood to help Ukraine, where large-scale hostilities have been ongoing since February 24.
Both representatives of the majority and the parliamentary opposition became donors. The Georgian Institute of Hematology and Transfusiology is responsible for the blood donation process.
According to the press service of the Georgian Parliament, the blood will be sent to Ukraine as soon as possible. Blood transportation will be provided by the representative office of the Red Cross in Georgia.
On the eve of the start of the blood donation campaign, a member of the ruling Georgian Dream party, the chairman of the health committee, Dimitri Khundadze, announced the initiative. He also addressed the Ministry of Health of Georgia with a request to support the initiative and organize blood donation points throughout the country.
