
Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chairman of the Georgian Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, is on an official visit to Malaysia, where he met with Deputy Senate Speaker Nur Jazlan Mohamed and Wong Chen, Chair of the House Foreign Affairs and Trade Committee.
Talks focused on deepening cooperation in politics, trade, education, and tourism, with Samkharadze thanking Malaysia for its continued support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He highlighted the value of engaging with ASEAN’s parliamentary dimension to expand Georgia’s outreach in Southeast Asia and emphasized the potential for future investment between the two countries.
The discussions also covered regional security issues, including the situation in Russia-occupied Georgian territories, Black Sea security, and the impact of Russia’s war in Ukraine on the South Caucasus.
Malaysian officials, in turn, shared their perspectives on economic and geopolitical challenges in Southeast Asia, particularly the adverse effects of U.S.–China trade tensions on ASEAN economies.
