The Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has expressed profound shock and sorrow regarding the recent attack in New Orleans. In a statement shared on the X platform, the MFA remarked, “We are deeply shocked and saddened to hear of the attack in New Orleans.” The Ministry further emphasized its condemnation of violence, stating, “We strongly condemn all acts of violence and stand in solidarity with the victims, their families, and the people of the United States during this difficult time.”
The tragic incident occurred on New Year’s Day when a driver rammed a pickup truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street, resulting in at least 15 fatalities and numerous injuries. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has classified the event as an “act of terrorism” and suggested that the driver may not have acted alone.
The suspect, identified as a U.S. Army veteran from Texas and an employee of Deloitte, is currently under investigation for his role in the attack.
