
The Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health, and Social Protection, Mikheil Sarjveladze, met with Kemlin Furley, Head of the UNHCR Representative Office in Georgia, to discuss continued cooperation and support for displaced populations.
During the meeting, Minister Sarjveladze expressed his gratitude to Ms. Furley for the strong partnership with UNHCR and emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration. He provided an overview of current initiatives aimed at the resettlement of up to 13,000 internally displaced families.
The discussion also covered the development of a new policy framework for IDPs and reviewed the state’s response to Ukrainian citizens currently residing in Georgia due to the war. This assistance includes financial support and access to free medical services.
Minister Sarjveladze reaffirmed the government's commitment to maintaining and strengthening cooperation with UNHCR in addressing the needs of displaced communities.
