The Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has issued a statement expressing profound sorrow over the tragic crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines aircraft, which resulted in the loss of dozens of lives.
"We are deeply saddened to hear about the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines aircraft, which claimed dozens of lives. We extend our heartfelt condolences and profound sympathy to the government and people of our friendly neighbor, Azerbaijan. In this difficult time, Georgia stands in solidarity with its strategic partner, Azerbaijan. We also wish a swift recovery to those who were injured," the statement reads.
The Azerbaijan Airlines flight, carrying 67 passengers, was en route from Baku to Grozny when it crashed near the Kazakhstani city of Aktau. According to preliminary reports from the Kazakh Emergency Ministry, 25 individuals survived the crash, with 22 currently receiving medical treatment in hospitals.
