
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia held a meeting with the diplomatic corps to discuss the 2025 local self-government elections and the October 4 events.
First Deputy Foreign Minister Giorgi Zurabashvili emphasized that the elections were peaceful and transparent, monitored by around 1,000 observers from 55 organizations and 73 media outlets.
Regarding the October 4 unrest, Zurabashvili stated that the rally turned violent after exceeding legal limits, prompting a lawful police response. He urged international partners to objectively assess the incident and distance themselves from violent protest actions, noting injuries to police and journalists, as well as damage to municipal property.
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to cooperation with international partners and the diplomatic community.
