A Georgian judoka Ilia Sulamanidze claimed a silver medal in his debut performance at the Paris Olympic Games.

Sulamanidze lost to his Azerbaijani rival Zelym Kotsoiev with a score of 1:10 in the final of the 100 kg category and became the second Georgian to win the silver at the ongoing Summer Olympic Games.

Georgia, represented by 28 athletes at the Paris Olympics, has already earned two medals, one gold claimed by judoka Lasha Bekauri, a two-time Olympic champion, and one silver medal by judoka Tato Grigalashvili.
