Businessmen of the Mangystau region of Kazakhstan have started planting olive seedlings. According to them, it is planned to grow a plantation on the area of 10 thousand ha and then produce olive oil.
It became known that Georgian investors were interested in this field. They intend to turn Kazakhstan into an olive hub, APK News reports.
"Olive is a very unpretentious plant for any climate. He thrives very well in Georgia. The seedling gives a harvest already in the third year and will continue to do so for centuries. As for water, the tree adapts very well to the desert soil, it is not a fussy plant at all. You can harvest 50 kg of olives from one tree," says olive processor Nika Markozashvili.
