
Employees of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs earned impressive results at the 2025 World Police and Fire Games, held in Birmingham, United States, the ministry’s press service announced Sunday.
Georgian athletes claimed a total of six medals—four gold and two silver—across powerlifting and arm wrestling disciplines.
In powerlifting, Koba Kobakhidze, head of the Samtskhe-Javakheti Main Department of the Patrol Police, and Levan Giligashvili, also from the Patrol Police Department, each took home gold medals. Teimuraz Kalandadze, director of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti Police Department, and Ilia Jadugishvili from the Object Protection Department, earned silver medals in the same sport.
Adamur Arkania, head of a division within the Ministry’s Logistics Department, secured two gold medals in arm wrestling.
The World Police and Fire Games, held biennially since 1985, bring together law enforcement and firefighting personnel from around the globe. This year’s edition featured 8,500 athletes from 70 countries competing in 60 different sports.
