
“The Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Irakli Karseladze, held an introductory meeting with the new regional director of the World Bank (WB), Rolande Pryce,” - the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia reports.
According to their information, the meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Mzia Giorgobiani and Head of the World Bank Programs Abdul Aziz Faghi.
The parties of the meeting reviewed the completed, current and planned infrastructural projects in the country supported by the World Bank. The Minister spoke in detail about the progress and results of the construction and rehabilitation projects of municipal and tourist infrastructure, cultural heritage and socially important objects as part of the World Bank programs. He also emphasized the importance of these projects for the development of the country's regions.
Rolande Pryce positively assessed the progress of the current projects and noted that these results would provide a good opportunity to expand cooperation.
Irakli Karseladze congratulated the director of the World Bank on the start of activities in the region and wished him success. He also thanked the World Bank officials for their many years of supporting the infrastructure and regional development of Georgia and expressed hope for fruitful cooperation.
With the support of the World Bank, the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia has been implementing several programs since 2011. The programs include both basic (road, water supply and other) infrastructure development projects, as well as tourist facilities, cultural heritage monuments and other municipal infrastructure development projects.
