Georgian immunologist Tengiz Tsertsvadze dies at age of 76

Tengiz Tsertsvadze, a prominent immunologist, professor, and doctor of medical sciences, has passed away at the age of 76.
Tsertsvadze served as the general director of the Center for Infectious Pathology, AIDS, and Clinical Immunology. He was also a member of the New York Academy of Sciences and the American Infectious Diseases Society.
Additionally, he played a significant role in initiating the state hepatitis C elimination program and was honoured as a knight of the Presidential Order of Merit and Excellence.
On October 3, 2020, he was awarded the title of honorary citizen of Tbilisi, along with eight other doctors actively combating the COVID-19 pandemic.
