The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Guram Guramishvili says that due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, Georgia has increased cargo in the transport corridor.
According to Guram Guramishvili, Kazakhstan has already started shipping oil through the corridor to Georgia, which was announced in April this year.
The Deputy Minister stated that the Kazakh side has already launched oil transportation, which amounts to 2 million tons per year. In addition, the other Kazakh oil products will be 600 thousand tons. It is also planned to transport 2.5 million tons of different dry bulk materials. We expect to increase the number of container units in the Georgian corridor by about 50,000. This will mainly refer to the shipments from China and Central Asia to Europe. Our Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railroad will be used in this process," - Guramishvili told the European Integration Committee.
Guramishvili also noted that coordinated work with different countries is underway to avoid delays due to the increased traffic.
