Georgia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Botchorishvili, has expressed strong support for the Georgian Parliament’s forthcoming position on the recently enacted MEGOBARI Act by the U.S. Congress, underlining the importance of a clear and coordinated national response.
“I welcome the Georgian Parliament’s reaction to the MEGOBARI Act,” Botchorishvili stated. “The legislature’s position on this matter is crucial and must not be underestimated. Since the Act has been adopted by the U.S. Congress, it carries significant weight in shaping future U.S. policy toward Georgia. That’s why careful engagement and a clear stance are essential.”
The Parliament of Georgia is expected to issue an official declaration addressing the MEGOBARI Act. According to Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, the statement will reflect the legislature’s evaluation and response to the legislation.
Botchorishvili emphasized that the Parliament’s official statement is not only welcome but necessary, given the potential implications of the Act for Georgia’s strategic partnership with the United States.
