
The Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Botchorishvili, held a meeting with Philemon Yang, the President of the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
During the discussion, Minister Botchorishvili reaffirmed Georgia's commitment to supporting the UN's priorities and upholding the values outlined in the UN Charter, including peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.
Botchorishvili also highlighted Georgia’s active role in UN initiatives, particularly its contributions to advancing gender equality and strengthening women’s rights.
The two officials addressed the security situation in the South Caucasus, focusing on the ongoing challenges in Georgia’s occupied territories.
Minister Botchorishvili expressed gratitude to the UNGA President for the UN's steadfast support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. She also emphasized the importance of the General Assembly resolution on the "Status of Internally Displaced Persons and Refugees from Abkhazia, Georgia, and the Tskhinvali Region/South Ossetia, Georgia."
