
Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Bochorishvili met with Gwi Yeap Son, Regional Director of the United Nations Development Coordination Office (DCO) for Europe and Central Asia, to discuss ongoing cooperation and future initiatives between Georgia and the United Nations.
The meeting focused on priority areas for Georgia’s development, including regional, economic, and infrastructure plans, and explored opportunities for deeper collaboration with the UN. Both sides emphasized the importance of aligning with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with particular attention to the development of the upcoming “UN Sustainable Development Partnership Agreement 2026–2030.”
Bochorishvili reaffirmed the Georgian government’s commitment to active cooperation in achieving these goals, while the UN official expressed continued support for Georgia’s development agenda.
The security and humanitarian situation in the Russian-occupied regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali was also highlighted, underscoring the ongoing challenges faced by the country.
As part of his visit, Gwi Yeap Son is scheduled to meet with other representatives of the Georgian government and sectoral agencies to further strengthen UN-Georgia cooperation.
