Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili met with UK Ambassador Gareth Ward to discuss bilateral relations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
Minister Botchorishvili voiced concerns over recent UK sanctions on Georgian citizens, stating they risk undermining the strategic partnership and could be perceived as attempts to influence Georgia’s internal political affairs.
The two also discussed Georgia’s new foreign funding legislation. Ambassador Ward said the regulatory process is nearing completion and stakeholders will be informed accordingly.
Minister Botchorishvili stressed the need to prevent politicization of legal cases and to uphold judicial independence. The conversation also addressed regional security issues, with both sides highlighting the importance of strong, effective institutions for maintaining national stability.
