The cooperation between Georgia and Hungary, as well as Georgia’s European integration, was discussed by the Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and his Hungarian counterpart Péter Szijjártó.
At the meeting held on the sidelines of the 30th Ministerial Council of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe, Szijjártó reaffirmed Hungary’s strong support for Georgia’s integration into the European Union.
The two Foreign Ministers reviewed the European Commission’s positive recommendation to the European Council earlier this month to grant Georgia the EU membership candidate status in December, the Georgian foreign office said.
The Georgian Government's efforts on the country’s EU integration path, including implementation of the recommendations, outlined by the bloc for granting the status to the country, were also highlighted by the sides.
The conversation also touched on the cooperation between the two states in international formats, including within the framework of the OSCE.
Earlier during the day, Darchiashvili participated in the opening of the Ministerial Council in Skopje, where he is scheduled to deliver a speech, the state body noted.
