The Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili recently engaged in discussions with the EU Ambassador to Georgia, Pawel Herczynski. As reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting focused on significant aspects of the bilateral relations between Georgia and the European Union. It was underscored that Georgia remains fully committed to meeting its EU obligations and is actively working towards preparing the country for EU membership.
The parties also addressed the need to resolve the recent challenges in their relations, with a call for objective assessments of the ongoing developments. The EU Ambassador expressed concerns regarding the unfolding events in Georgia, while the Georgian delegation voiced its apprehensions over the political speculation surrounding the upcoming elections. Furthermore, the Georgian side highlighted that the messages conveyed in the European Parliament's recent resolution were seen as exacerbating the political climate and contributing to an artificial crisis, akin to the situation in 2020.
The meeting concluded with a mutual emphasis on the importance of dialogue between the parties to address the current issues and foster constructive cooperation moving forward.
