Georgian FM: At the meeting initiated by the President of Poland, we reiterated Georgia’s ultimate goal – to become a member of the European Union

“An important meeting was held at the initiative of the President of Poland, where the Prime Minister of Georgia was invited together with his Moldovan counterparts,” – the Deputy Prime Minister/ Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Davit Zalkaliani, said while assessing the meetings held by the Prime Minister of Georgia within the UN General Assembly in New York.

According to him, the Polish partners are serious supporters within the EU in order to make the role of the three associated countries even clearer in the context of the forthcoming Eastern Partnership Summit.

“It can be considered as a kind of a preparatory meeting and the supporting role Poland can play as one of the most important EU countries in terms of encouraging the Associated Trio. Everyone agrees that the three countries are clear partners in the Eastern Partnership and the principle of a comprehensive and differentiated approach “more for more” must be ensured, and we had a very interesting discussion in this regard. We have reiterated Georgia’s ultimate goal of becoming a member of the European Union and our ambitious plan to apply for the EU membership in 2024 to be supported by our European partners,” – Davit Zalkaliani declared.
