
First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Romeo Mikautadze, who is paying an official visit to Lithuania, held meetings in the Ministry of Energy of Lithuania. The visit was held within the framework of the Georgian Energy Sector Reform with the support of the European Union and the KfW Bank.
At the meetings held in the Ministry of Energy of Lithuania, the economic relations of the two countries were discussed and special attention was paid to cooperation in the direction of green energy and energy efficiency.
It was also noted that Georgia was working on a regulatory base of the European Union standards, which should promote the use of renewable energy sources in the country and the establishment of energy efficiency norms in various sectors of the economy.
Romeo Mikautadze also positively assessed the cooperation with the Lithuanian side in the implementation of separate energy projects, including equipping schools in several cities of Georgia with solar power plants, which were implemented with the grant program of the Lithuanian side.
The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, in cooperation with the international consulting company Gopa-Intec, ensures the development of energy legislation in terms of renewable energies and energy efficiency.
