According to the data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia, the trade turnover between Georgia and Finland is quite small and it does not exceed $21 million annually. At the same time, the trade balance is sharply skewed in favor of Finland. During 2021, the revenue of imports from Finland into Georgia amounted to $19.5 million, and from exports - $1 million.
The top-5 products imported from Finland to Georgia in 9 months of 2022 are distributed as follows:
1. Butter - $2.17 million;
2. Mineral fertilizers - $1.88 million;
3. Oil and oil products - $1.23 million;
4. Mobile phones - $1.18 million;
5. Alcoholic beverages - $1 million.
In the same period, the top-5 products exported from Georgia to Finland are distributed as follows:
1. Sacks - $252.8 thousand;
2. Clay - $250 thousand;
3. Wines - $103 thousand;
4. Parts of cranes and drilling machines - $68 thousand;
5. Lamps - $32 thousand.
Finnish foreign direct investment flows to Georgia are also low, exceeding $1 million in recent years only in 2019.
