“A high-level discussion took place in the format of the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank: the discussion "Overcoming global risks - development of public debt management capabilities" was moderated by the Director of the International Monetary Fund's Capacity Development Institute, Dominique Desruelle,” - the Ministry of Finance of Georgia reports.
The Minister of Finance of Georgia, Lasha Khutsishvili, the First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Gita Gopinath, and the Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Benin, Romuald Wadagni, took part in the discussion.
"In his speech, the Minister of Finance talked about the steps taken by the Government of Georgia in recent years in the direction of debt management and strengthening of fiscal discipline. According to him, both before the pandemic and in the post-pandemic period, Georgia has shown that it is important to maintain a healthy and reasonable fiscal policy.
Lasha Khutsishvili also spoke about the importance of using the country's transit and tourism potential and attracting investments, and in this regard, the large infrastructural projects ongoing in the country.
