
“Within the framework of his visit to the United States of America, the Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili met with Matthew Axelrod, the Assistant Secretary for Export Enforcement at the US Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security,” - the Ministry of Finance of Georgia reports.
The conversation touched on the dynamics of trade and economic relations between the two countries, issues of support of the United States of America in the direction of increasing customs control capabilities, which contributes to the development of legal trade control in the region. The process of enforcement of international sanctions by Georgia was reviewed.
As Lasha Khutsishvili noted, from the very first days of the imposition of international sanctions, the country had been implementing the centralized control of the enforcement of the said sanctions.
At the meeting, the American side positively evaluated the steps taken by Georgia in the direction of enforcement of sanctions. Attention was paid to the need to strengthen Georgia's transport, trade and logistics capabilities, which would contribute to the deepening of the country's European integration.
