The mission of the International Monetary Fund has started working in Georgia, which periodically and systematically carries out consultations according to Article IV of the IMF Regulations. In this format, the members of the mission met with the Minister of Finance of Georgia, Lasha Khutsishvili. Deputy Ministers Giorgi Kakauridze, Ekaterine Guntsadze and Mirza Gelashvili also attended the meeting.
The current mission aims at the International Monetary Fund to evaluate the current macroeconomic situation in Georgia as well as the country's fiscal and monetary policy.
The Minister of Finance informed the members of the mission about the current situation in the economy, the dynamics of the current year's budget execution and medium-term period forecasts.
As it was mentioned at the meeting, in the post-pandemic period, the macro-economic parameters of Georgia confirm their stability and the fiscal parameters have returned to the target indicators.
In parallel with the support of carrying out the reforms and capital projects, work will continue to further improve the analysis, forecasting and planning tools for the medium and long term.
The importance and role of Georgia's adoption of the EU membership candidacy status, including the planned reforms in the management of public finances, were noted.
