I congratulate you on today's day and wish you and our country success", - the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Otar Shamugia, said.
The farmers of the year were identified in 11 nominations at the event. The winners were given diplomas along with a special award. The farmers participating in the competition were selected by the representatives of the Rural Development Agency of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia and the Georgian Farmers' Association, taking into account the relevant criteria.
The winner was randomly selected from the 3 nominees submitted for each nomination.After the awarding ceremony, the farmers' products were tasted.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia and the Georgian Farmers' Association, in partnership with the European Union (EU), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the agricultural program of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Together with the farmers, the Parliament of Georgia, the Government, as well as the US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan, representatives of the diplomatic corps, international donor organizations and industry associations attended the event.
It should be noted that November 20 has been celebrated annually since 2015 as the Farmer's Day, at the initiative of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.
As part of the Farmer's Day, the exhibition of the Georgian agricultural products was held in the territory of the exhibition center "ExpoGeorgia" (6th pavilion).
