“The Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Otar Shamugia met with the Bulgarian Ambassador to Georgia Vesselin Valkanov,” - the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia reported.
The parties discussed the issues of further cooperation between the countries.
At the meeting, attention was focused on the issues of cooperation in terms of water resources management, food safety and plant protection in Georgia in the directions of strengthening laboratory capabilities.
As the Minister mentioned in his speech, with the support of the European Union and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, a project to strengthen laboratory capacities in the field of phytosanitary is underway in the country, in the process of which the involvement of experts will be important for Bulgaria. The project will contribute to increasing the competitiveness of farmers and access to the EU market.
The discussion at the meeting touched upon such a priority direction as the deepening of trade relations between the countries. It was noted that the export of agricultural products from Georgia is growing every year; the rate of honey export is quite high.
Vesselin Valkanov noted that Bulgaria unwaveringly supports Georgia on its way to European integration. The parties emphasized the importance of the support of partner donor organizations in the mentioned process.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister wished success to the new Ambassador of Bulgaria in his diplomatic activities in Georgia.
