The Georgian Environmental Protection Ministry fined a Panamanian-flagged vessel ₾100,000 ($35,523) after its crew discharged agricultural waste into the Black Sea, causing environmental damage exceeding ₾20,000 ($7,104).
The Poti City Court in western Georgia fined the crew of a Panamanian-flagged vessel for violating environmental regulations, allowing the ship to depart after paying the fine and compensating for the environmental damage. The Department of Environmental Supervision emphasized that preventing marine pollution remains a priority, with two incidents involving foreign-flagged vessels detected this year, following 16 such cases in 2024.
