Within the framework of the event, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the US, Tamar Taliashvili held a meeting with Bishop Saba of Georgian Apostolic Orthodox Church in North America, Senior Priest Pavle Zakaria of the Georgian Parish of Washington D.C. Named after St. King Tamar, and representatives of the Saint Hieromartyr Grigol Peradze Georgian Cultural Center of Pennsylvania and the Georgian diaspora.
During the meeting the discussion focused on the importance of strengthening US-Georgian relations and cultural ties, as well as the special role of the Georgian Apostolic Orthodox Church. The upcoming 1700 year anniversary of the establishment of Christianity as the state religion in Georgia in 2026 was also mentioned.
In this context, the Embassy provided its contribution within the framework of a charity campaign organized to support the initiative of the Georgian Apostolic Orthodox Church in North America regarding the construction of a Georgian Church. The Ambassador also presented the clergymen and representatives of the aforementioned center with symbolic gifts.
