The Georgian Embassy in Iran has issued an official statement urging Georgian nationals currently in the country to seek special permission before attempting to cross into Azerbaijan or Turkmenistan.
“In light of the current security situation in the country, the Embassy of Georgia in the Islamic Republic of Iran continues to operate under emergency procedures,” the statement reads. Embassy staff remain in active communication with Georgian citizens and are coordinating closely with local authorities to monitor developments.
According to the embassy, over 100 Georgian nationals have already received assistance through phone consultations and other support services.
Georgian citizens planning to leave Iran may do so through land border crossings with Azerbaijan (Astara), Armenia (Norduz), Turkey (Bazargan), or Turkmenistan (Bajgiran). However, entry into Azerbaijan or Turkmenistan requires prior authorization. Citizens are advised to contact the Georgian Embassy in Iran to obtain the necessary documentation.
