The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Natia Turnava, who is currently visiting the United Arab Emirates, said that the reforms carried out during the last decade in the field of maritime education and seafarers' certification system have significantly improved the reputation of Georgia and Georgian sailors in the international maritime space.
During the meetings, the sides discussed cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade, economy, real estate, energy, investment and tourism. It was especially emphasized that Georgia attaches great importance to the development of relations with the United Arab Emirates and there is great potential in this regard.
According to Natia Turnava, foreign direct investments and diversification of their geography are important for the recovery of the economy in the post-Covid-19 period.
"That is why we visited the United Arab Emirates, which is our traditional investor partner. Over the years, local investors have invested more than 100 billion dollars in Georgia. However, there is an opportunity to further expand the projects of the UAE investors and their investments in Georgia. During the visit, in addition to my colleagues, I also met with the largest investment fund officials, who express readiness to enter Georgia, expanding and investing in the development of energy, logistics, tourism here. These are areas that are important for our economy, for the employment of our citizens, and also very meaningful for foreign investors," - Natia Turnava stated.
