
The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili held an introductory meeting with the new Ambassador of Japan to Georgia Ishizuka Hideki.
The current issues of bilateral and multilateral relations and prospects of future cooperation were discussed during the meeting. Among them, a conversation was held on deepening relations in such sectors as trade, energy, transport, etc..
The importance of rapprochement of Georgian and Japanese business circles and, in this regard, the holding of more trade missions and business forums was emphasized. It was noted that in recent years the interest of Japanese investors in Georgia's economy has increased significantly, in the first quarter of 2023 this trend continued and the investments made from Japan exceeded 60 million US dollars.
They also discussed cooperation in the field of transport, including civil aviation and tourism. It was noted that the number of visitors from Japan is increasing every year, although it was said that this dynamic would increase even more if there were direct flights.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister expressed his desire for close cooperation with the newly appointed Ambassador and wished him success in his future activities.
