
The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili met with the Latvian Ambassador to Georgia Edīte Medne.
At the meeting, priority economic issues, including trade, transport, energy, tourism and other topical areas, were discussed. It was noted that trade dynamics with Latvia is increasing, especially exports, the rate of which will increase by 31 % in 2022.
As for investments, it was said that capital from Latvia is successfully directed to such fields as energy, processing industry, transport, agriculture, real estate and others. Close cooperation with Latvia in the direction of Georgia's integration into the Euro-Atlantic structures was emphasized. It was also noted that Latvia is one of the main partners of Georgia within the framework of the Twinning program of the European Union.
It was said at the meeting that a friendship group with the Parliament of Georgia had already been established in the parliament formed as a result of the parliamentary elections in Latvia; its member is the speaker of the Latvian Seimas, Edwards Smiltens. It was noted that the friendship group with Georgia would be another successful platform in the direction of strengthening bilateral ties.
