
The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili met with the German Vice Chancellor/Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Robert Habeck.
The meeting was held within the framework of the visit of the Georgian government delegation to Germany. The Georgian government delegation in Germany, under the leadership of Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, participated in the official opening of one of the world's largest tourism exhibitions ITB BERLIN 2023, where Georgia is represented as the official host of the exhibition.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the economic relations between Georgia and Germany, focused on the priority areas of cooperation and outlined the ways of their further development. It was noted that Germany was one of the biggest supporters of the ongoing reforms in Georgia and a major investor in the country.
Levan Davitashvili said that he was happy for Georgia being granted the status of the official host country at ITB BERLIN 2023 and noted that this activity would help Georgia and its tourism sector in further development and better positioning in international markets. According to the Economy Minister, Georgia considers Germany as one of the important markets in promoting its own tourism potential.
At the meeting, the parties also discussed the projects of regional importance in the transport, communications and energy sectors, which are aimed at greater economic integration of Georgia into the European Union. Special emphasis was placed on the Black Sea submarine cable project and the importance of increasing the capacity of the middle transport corridor passing through Georgia.
The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Genadi Arveladze and the Ambassador of Georgia to Germany Levan Izoria also took part in the meeting.
